A new Team Lab Reconnect Exhibition called Art with Sauna was created in partnership with TikTok. This new exhibition can be seen in the Roppongi area of Tokyo.
Get Into the Japanese “Totonou” State of Mind
“Art with Sauna” consists of a sauna (hot) area, a cold water area, and an art bath area. The experience is designed to be a connected space where participants can relax with art while refreshing the mind.
“Totonou” in Japanese means to place the mind in a special state. The idea involves alternating the mind and body between hot and cold baths. The intent of Totonou is to sharpen the senses, refresh the mind, and experience things that are beautiful.
TikTok and TeamLab Reconnect will release several works including a new group of works that embodies TeamLab’s newest art project called “Supernature Phenomenon.”
In one experience called “Levitation,” a sphere floating in space responds to impact from a human, but instead of following physical laws the sphere moves against gravitation as if it were a supernatural phenomenon. The idea behind this experience is to alter the viewer’s perception of physical laws that govern our universal understanding.
