NEWVIEW SCHOOL Teaching Materials are Now Available Online

The NEWVIEW SCHOOL curriculum is now available as an online learning program called “NEWVIEW SCHOOL ONLINE”. In addition to the captivating courses provided by our instructors, we will also be providing technical sessions administered by Unity.

The NEWVIEW SCHOOL ONLINE provides some exclusive lectures such as Thinking Outside of VR/AR in our Thinking and Expression portion of our online curriculum. Our courses are taught by talented teachers from the original and popular “NEWVIEW SCHOOL” program. There are several technical courses included in the online school which provides students with learning materials that will help them to master several VR and AR skills.

“Design Your Ultra Experience” – Learn XR from a variety of angles – Understand spatial thinking, 3D expression, innovative techniques, and comprehensive art
The first technical course called “Think Outside of VR/AR” is presented by Mr. Akihiko Taniguchi. Students get a chance to look back in history and learn some of the fundamental concepts necessary for creating XR works. Periodically, NEWVIEW SCHOOL ONLINE will add technical courses, such as this one and others from a range of artists and creators.

“Think Outside of VR/AR” – is a technical course supervised by Unity Technologies Japan. Unity is the world’s largest game engine platform with one of the highest market shares in the VR industry. In this course, students are able to learn state of the art techniques on how to effectively and creatively use STYLY and Unity in combination. This exclusive course will present basic and advanced techniques for interactive VR/AR content creation. Production methods and processes from the latest artists will also be shared in the course. The VR/AR works from these artists are currently shared and viewable through the STYLY Gallery.

In the future, NEWVIEW SCHOOL ONLINE will be a hub for these influential artists and creators to share and showcase their latest techniques and works.

What does NEWVIEW SCHOOL ONLINE Offer? 

  • Based on utilizing the XR creation and sharing platform called STYLY, students will be able to learn from a variety of technical courses. Some courses include skillful explanations on the basics of Unity and PlayMaker for VR/AR content creation.
  • Students will be able to express and experience their XR creations without any pre-existing programming knowledge.
  • Students can learn the technical processes and techniques from some of the greatest XR artists and creators who currently share their masterpieces in the STYLY Gallery. The courses are taught by the best NEWVIEW SCHOOL instructors so that students can learn not only the basics but also the thinking and expression aspects of XR content creation.

Differences Between NEWVIEW SCHOOL and NEWVIEW SCHOOL ONLINE:
NEWVIEW SCHOOL offers lectures and seminars from leading instructors who design new XR expressions and experiences. In the seminar, students can receive feedback from the lecturer during the creation of their XR work, and students can work towards improving the quality of their XR expressions. In person technical support and advice is provided. Please note: In 2020, all events will be hosted online due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The NEWVIEW SCHOOL is recommended for people:
・Who are engaged in creative activities and want to incorporate XR expressions and experiences into their work (learn how to incorporate video, graphics, music, etc. into a XR scene).
・Who are interested in 3D content and representation in XR.

Akihiko Taniguchi (XR Artist)
Taniguchi is a professor of Media Arts at Tama Art University in Japan – Department of Information Design. He presents his creative works in a variety of forms, including media art, net art, images, and sculptures.
