On February 3, NTT DoCoMo unveiled a prototype of their glasses-type wearable device “A Lightweight Display Glasses.” The new glasses weigh approximately 49 grams which is the lightest glasses in the world. The greatest convenience comes from the ability to fold and carry these glasses for people on the go.
These glasses come with an OLED display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) capability. Connecting an Android device is simple with a USB Type-C connection. There is a Display Port Alternate Mode which allows you to enjoy content on a large 100 inch screen when viewing at 4 meters away.
The weight is the most impressive part, these glasses put Docomo’s new prototype in the lightest class of glasses of this type with Full HD resolution.
3 different lens attachments can be used depending on the situation or content being viewed.
The DoCoMo glasses still allow you to check your surroundings even when wearing them. You can work or view things that only you can see which allows you to watch video while keeping your hands free. The device itself comes with three different front attachments all designed differently and with varying transparency. These attachments can be changed depending on your situation or the content viewed. The attachments can easily be changed using a single touch. The field of view (FOV) is about 40 degrees. The glasses also come with stereo speakers and a microphone.
NTT DoCoMo hopes that these new glasses will be used for daily use. The combination of these glasses and 5G communications will create new experiences and value. NTT DoCoMo plans to promote a variety of initiatives that will help progress the expansion of digital technologies.
