Exhibition for Finalists’ AR Artwork from NEWVIEW AWARDS 2019 at INVISIBLE ART IN PUBLIC

As part of the Shibuya Entertainment Technology Promotion Project, Psychic VR Lab is hosting an AR art exhibition in collaboration with KDDI called the INVISIBLE ART IN PUBLIC on the premises of SHIBUYA CAST for three days starting from Friday, November 8 until November 10, 2019. The exhibition will showcase the finalists’ artworks from the NEWVIEW AWARDS 2019 organized by NEWVIEW, the collaborative project between Psychic VR Lab Co., Ltd., Parco Co., Ltd., and Loftwork Co., Ltd. Psychic VR Lab provides the VR/AR creative platform STYLY and has its headquarters in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo with CEO Yukihiro Yamaguchi, Parco has it head office in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, and Loftwork is also headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. KDDI Co., Ltd. is located in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo with its President and Representative Director Makoto Takahashi.

 

 

The concept of INVISIBLE ART IN PUBLIC Exhibition is to “Turn The Invisible Into Value”.

The exhibition will showcase finalists’ artworks from NEWVIEW AWARDS 2019, a VR content award in the fields of fashion, culture, and art organized by NEWVIEW. NEWVIEW is an experimental project/community that hopes to develop new and creative expressions and experiences in 3D spaces using the VR/AR creative platform called STYLY (https://styly.cc).

Additionally, there will be AR graphic work on display from the artist Khaya.

QR code markers are spread throughout the premises of SHIBUYA CAST. Visitors can enjoy the AR artworks that appear in this space by scanning these markers using the STYLY app and also using devices that are available at CITYSHOP SHIBUYA CAST.

INVISIBLE ART IN PUBLIC

The AR art night exhibition will be held for three days from Friday, November 8 to Sunday, November 10, 2019 on the premises of SHIBUYA CAST. This event coincides with WHITE NIGHT WEEK.

Devices (iPad) are available at CITYSHOP SHIBUYA CAST.

INVISBLE ART IN PUBLIC intends to expand the possibilities of art and aims to create a platform that enables everyone to appreciate, evaluate, and support this kind of artwork. Shibuya is the main stage. This exhibition attempts to change the way we view the usual Shibuya environment by projecting an AR experience using handheld devices such as an iPad.

NEWVIEW AWARDS 2019 is the second round of global awards seeking VR content in the fields of fashion, culture, and art.

The aim of this award is to pioneer the near future where all creators will reap the harvest of 3D spatial expressions (VR) and pursue new expressions, cultures, and lifestyles, and discover a new-generation of creators who will cause momentum in the Super Design Experience.

The theme is a continuation of last year’s theme: DESIGN YOUR ULTRA EXPERIENCE.
The exhibition and the award ceremony will be held at the new Shibuya PARCO, which is scheduled to open in late November 2019.

A Permanent Exhibition by Discont – 2018’s PARCO Award Winner – Will Be Debuted at Shibuya PARCO!
AR Installation in SHIBUYA XR SHOWCASE

SHIBUYA XR SHOWCASE is coming to Shibuya PARCO! This virtual showcase displays 3D creative contents created by computers and viewable using smartphones and AR-compatible glasses as if you were really there.

The opening of the new theatre will feature the permanent exhibition of World’s End Supernova, the AR installation artwork by designer Discont who was awarded the PARCO award in the NEWVIEW AWARD 2018.

NEWVIEW
NEWVIEW started in January 2018 as an experimental project/community that hopes to nurture new and creative expressions and design experiences in 3D spaces.
It conducts experiments to design next-generation culture/lifestyle experiences that transcend reality and fantasy together with creators who embody city culture such as fashion, music, movies, graphics, and illustration.
