The VR/AR/MR creative platform “STYLY (https://styly.cc)” provided by Psychic VR Lab (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Yukihiro Yamaguchi) was adopted as one of the distribution platforms for the “Shibuya 5G Entertainment Project”, led by KDDI Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Makoto Takahashi; hereafter, KDDI), Shibuya Future Design (Location: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Hideki Koizumi; hereafter, Shibuya Future Design), and the Shibuya City Tourism Association (Location: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Jungo Kanayama; hereafter, Shibuya City Tourism Association), and 50 participating companies including Psychic VR Lab.
XR art using the city as a canvas is now available to experience in the digital twin of Shibuya. The content will be available on the streets of Shibuya when the curfew to prevent coronavirus infections is lifted. As the “digital twin” of Shibuya, we are expanding both the real and virtual worlds with entertainment.
The first part of the project, taking place in the virtual Shibuya area of STYLY, will be released at a later date.
Concept
- We have built a “place” in the virtual space that transmits Shibuya-like contents. In the future, we plan to collaborate with companies participating in the Shibuya 5G Entertainment Project.
- It’s possible to walk around spots such as the scramble intersection that represents Shibuya. The spot is expanding all the time.
- Each spot will host online events where you can experience entertainment such as live performances by artists, talk shows, and art exhibitions, just like in the real “Shibuya”.
- Utilizing 5G and other cutting-edge technologies, we provide entertainment for the 5G era accessible from anywhere and extending beyond the traditional limitations of time and place.

A project to upgrade the city of Shibuya in the 5G era, by fully utilizing entertainment-focused technology. Shibuya is a town where a wide variety of personalities gather to create a new culture. KDDI, which supports the concept of this town, and the Shibuya City Tourism Association and Shibuya Future Design, have collaborated efforts to accelerate the evolution of the town through technology and open innovation. STYLY is a VR/AR/MR creative platform that provides artists with a place for spatial expression.
By utilizing STYLY, you can construct a variety of spaces that express the imagination of creators without limit, such as conceptual shop spaces, installations, and galleries. Through this space, we are able to share experiences to the world of the Internet that were not possible in reality until now.
It is possible to create VR space only with a web browser, and STYLY is compatible with Mac and Windows, and can be used on popular PCs other than VR-compatible PCs. In addition, since it is linked to services such as Youtube, SoundCloud and Instagram, as well as 3D software such as MAYA and Blender, you can take in various materials without complicated operations and utilize them in the creation of space.
In the spring of 2020, it will be possible to create and distribute content for AR with STYLY Studio, a VR production tool that is currently being offered.
